Tires, age, dry rot, etc.

Tires, age, dry rot, etc.
How can I reduce the chances of dry rot occuring on my next set of tires? I drive an 03 F150 FX4 in Texas, and I currently have 80,000 miles and 4 years on my current set of BFG All-Terrains , and there is some dry rot showing. I know that environment is a big factor, and this truck was kept under a carport for 3 out of the past 4 years. The truck is now kept in a garage. I only put about 6,000 miles a year on my truck now because I use my Jeep as my primary vehicle. Will keeping this truck in a closed garage help extend the life of the tires, or will I still run into this dry rot problem 4 or 5 years down the road? Is there a product or tire dressing that will actually protect a tire from UV damage and age? I've seen lots of products that claim they will protect tires, but I'm still skeptical. Anyone who has any advice or past experience with getting longevity out of tires please chime in. Thanks!

Hope this helps. Not much you can do to prevent rot aside from keeping the tires out of sun and away from electric motors.

Just make sure the pruduct you use has no silicone in it. Armor-All, by the way, is terrible for that. I use the Griot's Rubber dressing. It has UV protectant and doesn't look slathered on.
A little goes a long way, too.
