my brakes have gone to hell and i'm finally getting them done this weekend.

i need new pads, hardware, and shoes.

they are gonna resurface the drums as well.

If i'm putting new pads on do i need to resurface rotors or get new ones or what? I don't want to not do something and then have another damn problem down the road

If they are stock rotors I would replace them.

I agree. If they are the originals with lots of miles, I would just replace. If they are machined, they will be thinner and could warp.

no they are actually only about a year old but i think they have been resurfaced once already. they aren't warped now but i'm putting new pads on so i've heard that is good to resurface when putin new pads on.

If the rotors are still true, ungrooved, etc, IMHO you don't need to have them machined. I've put new pads on a vehicle without turning them before and not had a problem. You could scuff them up with some emery paper or comparable and the new pads will seat quicker as any old glazing will be gone.
There is a limit that your existing rotors can be machined, if they've been machined previously there might not be enough material to safely machine them again.

Rotors are fairly inexpensive. I almost always replace them when I do brakes.

This past week when I replaced my rear pads was the first time I EVER didn't replace rotors. Didn't even machine them. Just new pads and cleaned the slides and everything. Had one that would drag every now and then from the slide being gunked up. So, $17 for pads, and about a half hour of time at work on Labor Day when I had nothing to do, and it eliminated the problem.
