Can chrome flake off a wheel?

Just bought this truck yesterday and noticed this afternoon the chome is flaking off one of the wheels. Can this be fixed or would it be better to buy a new wheel?

Here is a pic..

thats very severe, I havent seen it come off in that big of a chunk. Chrome flakes off rims all the time, many reasons result in this...from salt in the winter, to not keeping them clean. You can have it re-chromed or im not sure if a small spot can just be fixed, its something you would have to take up with a tim shop.

Ever hear the joke about there's two types of concrete: Broken concrete, and concrete that hasn't broken yet.

Most chrome nowadays is the same way if not meticuously taken care of, and never near salty air or roads.

Has anyone used California Chrome Wheel Inc to fix this type of issue?

I think power coating may look and be better since I back to boat into the lake. I dont want to have this chrome problem again.

Here is a pic of the truck. It should look good either way

Unless you decide to start blacking out other parts of your truck I'd suggest sticking with chrome. You've got too much other chrome to powder coat. The black and chrome would clash.

Send the wheels back for replacements.

If you just bought it yesterday I would take it back to the dealer and ask for a replacement.........Unless you bought it off someone?

Probably not the same thing but 2 of my emblems were pealed like twice and twice I went to the dealer and they replaced for free. Bumper to bumper warranty and i believe you have 10 days (don't know if all dealers do that mine did when i bought my truck) or something like that to return the truck if any problems without penalty and if you tell them you would return unless they fix they would be almost obligated to do it.
