315/75r16?

alriight i always thought htat you could NOT fit a 35" tire on a 97-03 f150 with just torsion bars cranked or aftermarket keys unless you also have like a suspension or body lift. but recently ive read some forums with ppl saying you can with the stock wheel. i kno this is true on the 04 and up f150 but the reason i ask is because ive got a 97 and im just cranking my keys and im pretty sure the biggest i could go is 305/70r16 (33"). Am i wrong is it possible with my stock rims to fit a 315 on? Is possible on stock 7" rim with any trimming to front valence or whatever cause i would love to beable to stuff sum 35"s under it if it is possible?

But like ive said ive never seen this and if it is ppossible and anyone has pics please post

thanks

You can put 35's on there with OEM wheels only, but you will rub on the frame at steering lock.

Thats awesome!
How bad will it rub will it ruin tires? how much trimming on front valence will have to do? and will that work with 3" torsion crank?

It's minor rubbing on the frame at full steering lock. However, 35's are very stuffed on a stock 4x4. Personally, I'd stick with 33's unless you plan on lifting the truck in the future.

No one makes a 2 inch lift kit for the 97-03 4x4's. The closest thing is those POS aftermarket torsion bar keys. I'd suggest a 3 inch body lift and a set of 16x10's with 4.5 inches of bs (like I'm running).

Thanks Wandell! i dont really want any of the rubbing so that would be the only reason i would go with a small lift. And so i could get some kind of aftermarket rims. (cause like i said i love the stuffed look!) By the way i love those wheels you've got on you screw. I was thinkin bout them too but i can get the classic II's alot cheaper i think but love em ne how! yeah i was just thinkin i guess i havent ever seen a 2" suspension lift for 97-03 f150 but i have seen a 2" bl just didnt com with bumber relocater mounts or whatever on the 2" opposed to they do come on 3" bl i kno. There is only one 4wheelin place near whree i live it actually bout 20miles away but i kno there gonna swear that those tires will never fit they like to tell you to fit a 35 you have to have 6inches of lift which i knew wasnt true on 3/4 and 1 tons. Anyway with the 2" body how do you relocate the bumpers since i think the PA kit doesnt come with any mounts or ne thing to relocate bumpers?

You wouldnt relocate the back bumper with the 2" kit. It would just be lower which is ugly IMO. Stay away from the torsion keys though, because I have heard nothing but bad although I have never had them. I would get a 3" BL like wandell said. 35"s will fit really nice in there with a 3" body lift and some new wheels. And if you want to tow anything then get yourself a drop down hitch and call it a day.

ugh! im def not doing the 2" then. for right now i think im just going to crank the stock keys up bout 2-2.5". put 35"s on the stock rims (procomp at's) and roll arouund on stock gears until i can afford to atlest do rear gears. if there is a good reason why i shouldn't do this that anyone kno's of (rubbing, need gears) anything please please fill me in cause i want all info i can get on this kinda sett up which is stock keys cranked 35's on stock rims stock gears. I can get the 35s on for $800 bucks moutned balanced tho! If anyone has pics of 35's on stock suspension 97-03 f150 please post! That'd be great!

Yea you can do that and get away with it. If you have a 3:73 ratio in the rear then you probably wont need to re-gear. At stock height with 35's the driveability wont be that bad. Your ride might be kinda rough with that much crank.. would be alot of pre-load. But I am sure you arent worried about that sorta thing. I would invest the money in getting it at the height you want before messing with gears. You will be looking at $1,200-1500 for gears and instiallation that could be well spent elsewhere.

Well thanks i think its a 3:55 at best not sure just got it actually. But 2" was cool with the whole stress on your cv boots and ball joints but 3 would be to much. Could i get away with the 3:55? (wish i had my 5.4 still) What would you say is the limit for crankin stock keyys?

Just use your OEM keys and crank them up. One side of my truck is cranked up all the way. Also, definately go with the 3 inch body lift. Trust me, everything lines up better with the 3 inch body lift.

Honestly i really dont wanna lift it any...i had a 3" bl on my 98' with 33s on 16x10 classic II's . i got tired of the frame showing cause i also dont like nerfbars...im 6'7" i dont particularly need them...and im not crazy about how they look either. Im prolly going to have to go with same setup on my other f150 minus bl but cranked tbars cause i dont think that 4.6 is going to have the power to move the 35's unless i regear and thats just prolly going to get way too expensive! idk what to do tho! if driveability would be alright and stock gears could get thos 35's rollin id go with 315's for sure!? Is this not the best idea? Just like mechanically?
