Toyo M/T's in snow

Working on getting some new feet for my truck and as I will be living in North Dakota I need something that does well in the snow for a few months.

Probably getting some 20" XD Spy's and still not sure on type and size of tire with just a 2.5" level.

Really like how the Toyo's look and everyone on here seems to love them, just want to know how well they hold up in snow, or any other recommendations.

I used them in two winters and they were great! Very good in snow/slush. On glare ice like in parking lots they were alittle slick when worn in but no more so then any other tire would be. When the roads were icey and slick I never had any issues at all, they were very good tires all around.

Thats what I was hoping to hear Max, thanks!

Now just need to figure out if I can fit 35's or just stick with 33's. Seems to be a hot topic.

You will be able to fit 35's with a 2.5 leveling kit IF you use the stock rims, otherwise you will have rubbing/clearance issues. I run 33's, on my 05, with bilstein 5100 with no problems.

I bet if you ran the 20x8.5's with +18 offset in the spy's you should be fine with 35's, I run 17x8's with +18 offset with 35's and dont have any problems, no rubbing after a little trimming though.. nothing serious at all.

This is my truck and this is exactly what setup your talking about! 20" XD spy's wrapped in 35" Toyo M/Ts! These tires if you put a lil glue on them you could drive up walls! lol no dude these tires are by far the best offroad tires you can buy and they dont have an annoying sound on the street like most offroad tires do!

35s on a leveled truck are overkill imo, just looks too stuffed, and makes me wonder what would happen if the truck was flexed, it would probably run a good wear line into the treads from the fender.

Heres my XD 20s on 33" Toyos, love them, miss the gas mileage of the stockers but the looks & compliments make up for it.

I agree, no problems with mine at all, but do have to watch the stops (which you should do in winter anyway)

I was playing in 36 inch snowfall over one of the weekends last winter, and they powered through easily.

Yeah I agree if your only going to level the truck the only way to fit 35" is to get alot of back spacing and when you do that it can put lots of strees on you OEM knuckle and wear and tear would set very quickly! Plus 33" on a leveled truck would look more balanced and not look like you over did anything!

I was worried that the 33's may look a little too small but after looking at Darrens setup it seems to be the best way to go. Beautiful truck ya have there!

Thanks for the comments. I think the 33s are perfect. They only rub the lower a-arm at full lock, and are less than 1/4" from the upper ball joint.
