Wide Stance

Interested in purchasing some 20x10 wheels in the near future. Looking for a wide stance where the wheels stick out further than oem, and dont know much about backspacing and offset sizes. Any info/pics are appreciated.

How far the wheel sticks out is determined by wheel width and backspacing. The most common wheel spec for the 04-10's is a 9 inch wide wheel with 5 inches of BS, which results in a wheel that sticks out 2 inches farther than the OEM wheels. I wouldn't go with a 10 inch wide wheel. Most of them seem to have only 4.5 inches of BS which means they will stick out 3.5 inches farther than stock which is too far in my opinion.

Are there any cons/disadvantages of a 20x10 with 4.5 BS? Wandell, thanks for your response. I see that you have 16x10 rims on your truck, do they not stick out the same as a 20x10? Also, is a rim offset the same as the backspacing?

The wide width and shallow BS can cause tire fitment problems and they also make the tires sitck way out on a 04-10 F-150. Personlly, I think a 9 inch wide wheel with 5 to 6 inches of BS is the best choice for an 04-10 F-150.
I do have 16x10's, but the 97-03 F-150's don't require as much BS as the 04-10's. The edge of my tire/wheel is just about even with the edge of my fender flares.

this is what a 20x10 4.5"bs and 35/12.5R20 Toyo m/t's look like to give you an idea
they stick out alot, but it looks awesome

unless your lifted , i would stick with Wandell's recommendations find a 9" wide wheel with around 5" bs

i have the 20x10 with the 4.5 BS and I love it. Yes the side of the truck gets dirty when muddin as I don't have flares (and don't really plan to) but it gives your truck a very aggressive stance.

Awesome guys, i really appreciate the pics. Thats exactly what i am looking for. I plan on installing a 6" lift running 35x12.50 on 20x10 wheels with 4.5BS. Do i need to look for a specific offset or do all 20x10 rims with 4.5bs have the same offset? I am not well versed on offset and BS. Thanks again for the responses.

Offset and BS are just two different ways of measuring the same thing. So yes, on all 10 inch wide wheels with 4.5 inche of BS, the offset will be the same.

good point , i forgot to mention how many more times i had to wash my truck when i had the Mazzi's on

also, i had gotten a few fender flare warnings from the fuzz, just to keep that in mind

Mine are +18 offset and stick out almost 1" from the flares.

I'm interested in a set of 18 inch XD Monsters for my 06 fx4. I notice that they are available in three different offsets. -12 +18 and +35 in a 9 inch width.
I really don't want my tires to stick out much. Ideally, right to my fender line. I believe that the +35 measure would do that but my search hasn't revealed any one who has them.
Anyone? would I have any problem with the inside clearance?
thanks to anyone who can give me advice.
