05 2wd Screw - 33" tires on stock 18" wheels

Perhaps a few of you guys have responded in the past and, to be sure, I have reviewed countless posts...however, my question:

Given the fact that the middle will wear if too wide a tire is on a stock 18" wheel, what do you recommend I go with as my tire?

2005 2wd Lariat with 3" spacer level in front and 1" block in rear. Currently, the tires (i believe the relative i bought it from had 255/55/18 on it) are too small.

recommendations? I have heard and read that with a leveled 2wd, you can go no larger than 33" and that with a leveled 4wd, you should go no larger than 35".

looking at going with:
285/65/18 - BFG AT KO's
275/70/18 - Toyo AT's (cheaper)

or even 285/75/18 Toyo AT's** I would like to go this route, but concerned that even with it level out with 3", maybe cutting it too close.

anyone think that a 305/65/18 - BFG will fit and wear okay?

Feel free to give as much input as possible. Thanks.

A 305/65/18 should work ok for you. You may experience some light rubbing if any. If you want to be on the safe side you can run a 285/65/18 with no issues.

I'm not a fan of the stuffed look, so I would go with the 285's. I know in the 04-08's you can stuff more tire under there then that of my year\body style, but still, I think the 305's would look too stuffed. That's my input.

Here is a link to a guy with a leveled 2wd running some 285's. Look in his gallery at his white truck, I think you will like them. https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...3-blkbuty.html

Go with the 305's.

2.5 spacer w/ 285's

2.5 spacer w/ 305's

I originally bought a set of 285's that wouldn't balance out so when they did the replacement I paid the extra money and went up to 305's. The 285's were too small and just didn't look right to me. I am way happier with the 305's.

Those 305's do look very nice. Do they rub at all? After seeing those, if they don't rub I would second the 305's, if they do rub I would go with the 285's.

The only time they rub is at full lock on the lower control arm..............BARELY........and only because the stock wheel has so much backspacing. I can live with it.

I'd go with a 285/65-18 (33x11.50).

And the photos, it helps to see what it will look like with a similar setup.

I have 275-70-18 Continentals on my 2004 4x4 with a 2.5 level in front and nothing in the rear. These tire are a HT tread, but fit fine, no rubbing, infact I had them on before I put the level kit in with no problems. From lock to lock there is at least a 1" clear in the front of the tire and almost 1.5" behind the control arm. Good luck, I'm getting ready to put 285-75-18's on my ride, with aftermarket wheels, hopefully no problems.
