Max tire size on stock truck and stock wheels

Thinking about getting some new tires for my 2000 f150 xlt supercab 4x4. Just wondering what size tire i could fit on my stock wheels without a lift?

Yep, that is the absolute max. Of course anything smaller will also fit.

Yes. The 285/75-16 will do a nice job of filling the wheel wells. I had them on my 98.

Sorry, posted info on 17" wheels, but I have seen 315/70 or 75/16's before. It's do-able, didn't look safe of such a narrow rim.

It's not that it isn't safe. It's the fact that if you go too wide on that narrow of a rim, the tires will wear sucky.

I have 305's on oem 7" but next time i'm going 315's and finding oem 7.5" wheels.
The recommended for both is at least 8" width

I'd say it would only get unsafe if you were to go to the extremes and try to put a 14 or 15.50 on a 7" rim.

i've got 285/75r16's on the factory rims. granted, i have a 4x2, so the wheel wells on your truck wont look quite as full, but there's some pics on my thread:
