7x150mm pattern hubs

I recently purchased a used 2006 f150 and noticed it had 7 bolt, 17" wheels. ISTM other f150's have 6 bolt wheels. What's the significance of 7x150mm pattern?

You have a truck with a higher GVW, 8200lbs, than the regular F150.

RIght. The downside is there are only a couple of aftermarket wheels choices.

Thanks, What advantage does having a higher GVW offer? Higher payload? Greater towing weight? I'd noticed this vehicle has a really stiff ride. My 97 F150 was more like a car. Years ago, we used to be able to buy half ton PU's sprung for 3/4 or full ton. Is this what I'm looking at here? Any special considerations when buying brakes/rotors?

I think so. You can carry more in the bed, pull more, etc. It's better imo, the only downside is like wandell mentioned. I like oem wheels myself, but it's hard to find 7lug aftermarket wheels.

You are getting closer to 3/4 ton with that vehicle, and yes heavier payload and tow capacity. Not sure if the brakes are any different than the standard F150, but things like tire will be different. LT tire with either a LR D or E are best (I believe LR E were OE). Anything other than that will be overloaded.

THanks, It came with stock Ford chrome rims which are OK by me. I am concerned about brakes and payload/towing.

Dunno what the LR is but it came with Michelin 265x17 Rated up to 80 PSI. Will check LR tonight.

80 psi would be a LR E. Just out of curiosity, what is the recommended pressure listed on the truck. A guess would be somewhere around 60-65, but that is only a guess for the 8200lb GVW truck.

yes you have greater load capacity and I believe your brakes are actually bigger. I have a 04 8200# load capacity w/7 lug wheels. it had the original tires and i actually bought different tires with lower tire pressure specs and researched best ride just trying to get it to ride better which did help and i would recomend. not sure of size other than i went slightly taller in size and they are Firestone and I like them they did make a difference in ride.
