Spring can come anytime. I would be interested in seeing a pic when you get them on. I am debating between 275/70/18 and 285/65/08. 70's would be a taller tire and fill the wheel well. I am not sure what I want to do size wise.

Are you leaning towards the BFGs too?

Yeah, I like the looks of them on the truck. Local tire dealer priced me Toyo's AT which are nice to and cheaper, I just like the AT look of the BFGs. Had a pair few years back on another truck and liked them. The local tire dealer thinks I should do the 285/65/18 Toyo's and said they would look good. With the level kit on, just want it to look semi-aggressive. Its an everyday truck so I don't want muddin tires. The 275/70/18 are alot cheaper than the 285/65/18.

I'm right with you for what my needs are and the look I'm trying to achieve. Have you seen this thread? http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/91...e-request.html

I am sure alot of people are looking for the same thing. Just want my truck to look healthy and like a truck. I checked out the thread, nice looking trucks with the tires. 35s look really nice but not sure its the most functional for me. I have looked so much on the threads about tires. I am jsut ready to pick one and be done.

I have an 2006 King Ranch Screw
Dark copper
2" AS level kit
Volant CAI

Soon to have bull bar and sprayed in bed liner line-x and newer tires.

This guy has 275/70R18s. I'd like a tad more height with that same width. Perhaps the black wheels makes the set up look small. https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...-interior.html

I have looked into tires more, I think I will be doing the 275/70/18 BFGs. General makes a tire with close to the same thread pattern as the BFGs and are a few bucks cheaper. I will end up doing either one. I think going with 275/70/18 will look better with filling in the wheel well. There is not much gain with the 285/65/18, about half inch if that both ways.

You decide on your tire size yet?

JTB - I am right with you and leaning in the same direction. I read on one of the other forums about using the 70 series as a wiser choice when using the factory rim because it being 11.5" wide vs. 12.5" wide. I had Generals once a few trucks back and didn't have any problems with them but I'll be sticking with the BFGs on this one. Now I need to just save a few more bucks and get this taken care of soon. Keep in touch and let me know how you made out if you beat me to the punch.

Sounds like we are looking for the same look, nice healthy truck look. I really like the BFGs, the cheapest place I have found is at discount tire and they have free shipping. Ordering online and going somewhere to have them put on, I will still be saving money. All the local places are over $1000 for them. Discount tire total is $812 which with all the places I looked, is the best deal. Check it out. Will let you know how I make out, you do the same. I am so excited, my new westin bull bar will be here tomorrow.

I was only thinking of buying locally to see if I could get a few bucks for my present ones (less than a thousand miles). I should stop though after work tomorrow to see what they'd charge for the new ones and if they'd give any for the "old" ones. Buying online is a good fall back option because there's no way they'd charge (approximately) $50 each for mounting and balancing (or would they).

Pleas be advised that the BFG's in 275/70/18 are an E rated tire which is 10 ply and a hell of alot stiffer then factory tire.

I just put the 295/70R18 Nitto Trail Grappler on my 06 King Ranch with 2.5" leveling kit. No rubbing with a great looking tire that fills out the wheel well.

Here's my 2006 Lariat 2wd, stock height on 265/75/18 POS's (even on KR wheels)

Stock height with 285/65/18 HanKook dynapro ATm's on the same stock rims (no rubbing)

Same wheels and tires as above... front is with 3" lift (achieved 2.5 height increase only) and rear 3" blocks...

There is room for bigger tires (these are about 31.5" tall and 11.0 inches wide measured on my 7.5" wide rim

I wanted mine to be a bit wider as well, however the gentleman in the linked pics above has aftermarket rims (XD rockstars) which I believe are either 8 or 9" wide, will affect the width of the tire on the truck as it will distort the sidewalls less... I've seen pics of some folks running 12.5" tires in stock rims, the 20" stock rims are wider than the 18" wheels I believe, but I've seen both with the 12.5" tires mounted on stock rims.

More pics in my gallery...

Cheers!!

Question ????

I have a stock 2008 f-150 FX2 and need new tires. I'm looking at the cooper zeon ltz 284/60/18 and was wondering if they will fit on the stock rims with no problems.
