help deciding between 285/72 or 305/70...

hey guys i need help deciding on a 285/75/16 and a 305/70/16 tire...the price difference is $20 a tire...so 80 a set. Is there a big enough difference between the two?

and also what brand should i go?
Toyo MT or BFG MT

You are basically comparing a 33x11.50 tire to a 33x12.50 tire. If you are using the OEM 16x7 wheels, the 285's will fit the wheel better. Both the Toyo's and BFG's are excellent.

i have 16x10 in wheels on my 03 f-150...i have heard that toyos will last longer, and would like to get 40000 miles out of the tire. since they are the same price i am torn btw the two, i like them both. i have 285/75/16 on my truck now, bridgestone dueler at. wandell youre the one that helped me get that setup and told me theyd fit with the 16x10. ive enjoyed that setup, but i am wanting to go to a mud and bigger...

either way you go the toyo or the km2 will last you a good while and forsure id go with the 305/70/16. unless your getting close to rubbing with the 285"s

i want the 305/70s, but i was reading the specs on the 285/75 and the section width in the toyo mt was 11.6 and in the 305/70 it was 12.2. so i wasnt sure if it was worth dropping an extra 80 bucks to go up to a 305/70....

3 inch body lift...at a local tire shop the guy gave me the prices in the 305 toyo and bfg were the same. the 285 in toyo was $260 while 305 was at $280...so i was just trying to figure out if the money was worth the 305? i have 285 now

absolutely worth it for that prices. 80 bucks is chump change when it comes to how much these tires cost.

my only concern would be rubbing

i will have to do a tiny bit more trimming...but the 285s fit well and look good. how much wider is the tread on the 305 to 285? yea it would be worth it..ill make them fit

yea man id try the 35s on yours..a buddy of mine had 35s on his stock wheels and they worked just fine, he had the bfg at. they did wear more in the middle of the tread but were with the wheel.
