I decided to go with the Toyo MTs for my son's Jeep Wrangler, but I am having trouble finding them in the 33x12.5x15 size. The online and local tire stores are out of stock with several week lead times. One of the online retailers is suggesting the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ radials in the same size.

I want to go with a 15x8 rim to avoid buying larger fender flairs for the Jeep, but the MT web site says this particular tire should be mounted on rims between 8.5" and 11" wide. Most 33x12.5s can be mounted on 8" rims, so I am not sure why this tire is different. The guy at the tire store says it will not be a problem, but I wanted to see what you guys think before going with a tire and wheel combination that is outside of the recommended specification.

THey will be fine on an 8 inch wheel.

 

Thank you Wandell. I was hoping to get your expert opinion... Now, I will call them back and see what kind of "deal" they will give me on the MTZs since my first choice of Toyo's is not available.

I would have to agree. I actually have them on my truck. My wheels are 17x8 though.
