Help Stock FX4 Which Tires, Duratracs, BFG AT KO, Others?

Stock 2004 Fx4 no level in need of some new tires. I must drive easy the original BFG Rugged Terrains I got 65k and now have almost 70k on a set of takeoffs....I want something a little more aggressive for snow and mud with good longevity. 90% Daily Driver 10% Towing/Hunting/OffRoad This is what I have narrowed down need some help deciding??? Goodyear Duratracs are what I am leaning toward.

Bfgoodrich AT T/A KO 275/65/18
Bfgoodrich AT T/A KO 275/70/18 Cheapest
Bfgoodrich AT T/A KO 285/65/18 Widest

Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 275/70/18 Not sure if I can find this size?
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 275/65/18

Also considered General AT2s but people say they do not last? But that is what I hear about the tires I have now???

Thanks for the help.

I'd go with the 285x65x18 BFG AT's. These are close to 33 inches tall and will fit easily at stock height on the OEM wheels. The Duratracs are more aggressive looking and may do a little better in the mud. Both these tires are LT rated and may ride a little rougher then a P rated stock tire.

What do you think about the 275/70 size vs the 285/65s? They are a couple hundred less a set. This size seems to be quite a bit cheaper just do not want them to look wrong.

For the price the 275's I think are the way to go. I have the same truck and have been looking at the same tires. Can't go wrong with BFG A/T's. Had them on my last Jeep and they performed very well.

I bought the 275/70/18's not sure why they are so much cheaper but I'm glad they were...275 is wide enough for me, I just wanted a a little more in diameter so these were perfect. Doesn't make much sense to spend extra to get 285/65/18, they are .5 inch less in diameter and just 10mm wider.

I just had my 295x65x18 Duratrac's put on today, they are a great tire, no whine till bout 60 mph and even then it's not bad. The ride is the same running about 45 psi. These tires look mean.... Anyone interested I have the stock tires 275x65x18 only 1,200 mi on them, goodyear wranglers... cheap to a good home .... Also put on a flow master system now she sounds as mean as she looks..... Thanks again folks for the help.... Jack

I like the higher profile series, so prefer 275/70 over the 275/65. I think more sidewall makes a tire look it belongs on a truck. I have a different size rim than you but was able to get a 32.1" tire by going to a 75 profile tire, which I prefer. If I had my druthers I would build a wide array of 80 profile tire sizes, lots of sidewall. Those duratracs sure look mean and they meet the sever snow rating if that is important to you.

Different strokes for different folks.

Hi I believe the reason the 275 70's are cheaper is because thats the size they have on the superduties, because that seems to be the most popular size if you need a lt 10 ply tire. and I have 275 70's on my stock 2007 f150 and they fit perfect toyo mt's though.
