I'm absolutely in a split decision between the Nitto Trail Grapplers or the Toyo MT. I've always wanted the Toyo, but then when it got close for me to get them finally, the Nitto came out. Might be nice to have something not as common.

well they're made by the same company and have similar tread designs so their performance shouldn't be too different. if the nittos are like their other tires then they will be a little bit softer and might wear quicker.

I've been getting about 60 - 70k out of my tires. I'm on my third set with this truck now. I got the first set when I bought the truck with 62,000 miles on it. Went to about 120k on those. Got some Toyo AT's and they went to about 190k. On the current set now and they are still basically brand new...

I replaced each set with lots of physical tread left. I'm sure the tire store sold them as used tires! They probably still have 40% tread left. None were that close to the wear bars.

I replace them when I notice the 'wet' grip of them getting bad.. When I can spin the tires without really trying at an intersection in the wet, it's time for new tires in my mind... Your tires from your pic look like they can go another 10k or so, but they are starting to have those 'micro' cracks appear, so they are starting to break down (dry out)...

The way I figure it is it's gonna cost $800 to get a set of tires if I get them now or later.... Actually, it'll probably cost MORE to wait.. I bought my set of Toyo's and only paid $120 each.... When I priced them the last time I replaced the tires, they wanted around $210 each! I got the tires I got now for something like $180 each... Pay now or pay more later! As long as I get at least 60k out of them, I'm satisfied!

Mitch

Mitch, yeah I feel like I could definitely get more wear out of those tires. Just starting to consider replacing them. I'm starting to get a little bounce out of them too like they're not round anymore.

Dillon, yeah I know they're the same company, which is probably why I'm having a tough time.

Pkent, haha, I love the looks of the mud grapplers, just don't think I could do it. I do want to see pics of your truck though.

Any other input now as far as which one to go with?

Go with the nitto trail they are just a hair more aggressive then the toyo's but the write up on them say they will also last longer so i would go with the trail

For me.. when the dealer tells me.... They had a "lifetime tires" plan when I bought the truck.. I just have to rotate it with them every 7500 miles... haven't done my first set yet... but with 80-100 miles a day it shouldn't be too long

Shrek,

That sounds like a heck of a deal. Do you get to decide what tires go on there or is it up to the dealer? That would be pretty nice.

Pkent,

I saw the pics of your truck in the other thread. Looks great!

Yeah I know. Thats what makes it difficult for me. As far as tread goes, I know I've got plenty of life still. I've been pleasantly surprised. When I purchased the tires, I was under the impression anything past 40-45,000 was bonus. Its trying to gauge the "health" of the tire so to speak thats difficult. Any thoughts?

Haha. More or less but not quite yet. I am pretty well decided on the Nitto Trail Grapplers. Just still hesitant to pull the trigger. Although I found out this weekend that I am unable to get the spare tire down because it has a lock on it to which I don't have the key! So I may go for it soon. Still liking your mud grapplers?
