To the Lifted guys...

I had been having issues with my brakes acting up on me over the last week or so. I dropped the truck off at the shop yesterday, and as they were driving it to diagnose the problem. The shop owner stopped at a transmission shop to pick up a part. When he got ready to leave, pressed the brake to put the truck into drive and the pedal went to the floor. The front passenger brake line blew at that very second. Thank God no one was driving the truck when it happened. So, now the truck is getting towed back to his shop, and now I am having issues finding stainless steel braided brake lines for my application. So, if you have a lifted truck and have not changed over to stainless steel lines, I HIGHLY advise you to do so ASAP. I would hate to hear that someone had an accident, with these big trucks we drive, from no brakes because their brake line blew. Mine blew because of a couple factors. 1. they had 176K+ miles on them, and 2. the line was rubbing against the suspension as it moved. So it wore the line down to the point of braking. Moral of the story; check your lines to make sure they are not touching any moving part, and change them over stainless steel lines.

Thanks for the heads up. Everyone should check their brakes regularly.

Nah I haven't Bert. After this little incident I ain't got the money for gas.

I went ahead and order a set of SS lines from these people. I will post up on how they perform when I get them installed. Hopefully, I wont have to worry about my lines breaking again. Plus they will look sweet when they are installed.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the brakeline, but your troubles will help out many of us. I have always been concerned about this issue, and after adding the lift I was looking for an outlet to source Stainless Steel lines but could never find an online place that had longer lines for a lifted rig.Until you had your troubles. So please keep us posted once you have em installed. If you are happy with them, I am gonna order some for myself.

You have a Sweet truck,too

And a mod I would highly recommend. But let me get mine installed, and I will give ya the "low" down on how they perform and look.

FYI - all vehicles have 2 brake circuits. If you have a brake line fail you will still have half the brakes.

Your stopping distance will be increased, but keep on pushing on the brake pedal... it will stop.

Well, I got the truck back yesterday afternoon. The new lines look great installed. I am very impressed with how well these new lines make the brake pedal feel over OEM lines. My brake pressure is A LOT firmer then it has EVER been, even when I first bought the truck. I would HIGHLY advice everyone to get a set of these lines. My truck will now stop on a dollar rather than a football field. In case you are wondering, she was never really able to stop on a dime either. But if you have ever debated it, or needed a reason to do it here it is. I will NEVER trust OEM lines again!!! When I get the money, I WILL be adding these to the wife's Jeep. One of if not the best mod one can do on your truck. It accomplishes 2 things: 1) looks sweet, and 2) adds SAFETY and peace of mind to you and your truck enough said.
