Swapping tires - 20" wheels

I currently have on order a 2010 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew with the 20" aluminum wheels. My plan is to swap the tires as soon as the truck is unloaded from the trailer. The main tire I have in mind is the BFG A/T 285/55/20.

Two main questions - 1. for anyone that has swapped tires before taking delivery, can you give any advice on things that I may not foresee

2. Any other tires I should be looking at besides the BFG?

The truck will not have a level kit installed at any point.

Anyone with input on the BF Goodrich 285/55/20 tires? I would really like to see some pics if possible.

I don't have any but I want some. Have read tons of reviews and those tires are going to get the most votes. They look great and have a long tread life. Here is a pic of one I found.

This is a 285/65/20 but it gives you an idea.

I am in seriously the same boat as you are.. I am looking at trading the stock perellies into the dealership. And then i am putting on some 275/65R20's Goodyear ATS's.. The stock tire on superduty trucks. About a 34x11...

The truck above that jmonis posted looks good, but it also looks like it has a leveling kit and I am not planning on putting one of those on.

I have already negotiated with the dealer that we will trade the tires out when the truck arrives at the dealership, so when I get it, I will post some pics. It is scheduled to be built the week of March 8th, so we still have a few weeks to go before I pick it up.

Yes those tires are bigger but the ones you are getting will fit with no problem. I was just giving you and idea of what they look like on stock 20's.

Gotcha, thanks.

I would like to go a little bigger maybe, but not quite ready to go for the leveling kit.

I just put the BFG A/T 285/55/20 on my 06 FX4. The best tire decision I ever made. No pictures until the weather clears

You could go with the 305/55/20 (33.4"x12.4"), which would be almost an inch taller and and not quite an inch wider than the 285/55/20 (32.5"x11.7"). Others have done it with no leveling kit as long as you have stock rims. Just an idea if you want to go a little bigger.
