Tire wear

need some help. i have 2005 fx4 supercrew with procomp stae 1 lift. its got the spacers in front and blocks in rear. im working on 2nd set of tires since installed the lift and i only get about 15,000 miles out of them before the inside of the fronts are totally worn. the first set of tires were procomp 35x12.5r17 and the current set are goodyear wrangler a/t 315x70r17...are these tires just crap or could it be the suspension. i keep truck aligned and tires balanced and rotated...filled with nitrogen even. should i upgrade shocks and springs or just spend more on tires??

If it is only wearing on the inside edge of the tire, then it is an alignment issue.

sounds good, just had tires rotated again with alignment ill keep a good eye on things...its every 6000 miles for rotation and about 10000 for alignment right?

From what you are describing, it is either excessive negative camber or a toe-out problem, (caster out of spec will not cause tire wear.) If both front tires are worn the same, it is probably the toe.

The Q you need to ask your shop is are they aligning per the stock factory specs or are they taking your lift into consideration??

I get 60,000 miles out of a set of tires and I only replace them because they are down to less the 40% tread left.... I only rotate them about ever 10-15,000 miles too!!

Then I find out I had a slight toe in problem when I had the truck aligned for the first time after owning the truck for over 9 years and over 140,000 miles.... The only reason I had an alignment done was because I hit a curb pretty hard avoiding rear ending a car that suddenly stopped in front of me to turn right off of a 40 mph speed limit road.. (I might of been following too close too.... )

Anyway, you should be getting a ton more miles out of your tires... It ain't the tires that's the problem if you are only getting 15,000 out of them IMO......
