need help with wheel offset on 24's

I have a 2006 F-150 Screw lariat 4x4 that has been lowered 2" in front and 3" in the rear. I have factory wheels right now but I want to upgrade to 24's. I somewhat understand wheel offset but not backspacing. The wheels I am looking at online are 24x10 with a 25 offset. The tires are 305/35 and I am concerned about buying them online and finding out they rub on the fenders. Tirerack.com only has 3 wheel options for this truck, a 24x9.5 with a wheel offset of 15mm, 25mm or 30mm but that wouldn't take into account the truck being lowered. I am hoping someone would know from experience if the 24x10 and 25mm offset is going to work for me or not before I buy them and ship them to me.

I don't know what backspacing that converts to, but if it's 6.5 to 7 inches you should be fine.

That is indeed a 6.5" backspace on those wheels. The tire and wheel combo will be approx 32.4 inches tall and 12.1 inches wide. Pull a front wheel off (backs will almost certainly fit) and start measuring. Maybe make a cardboard template to those dimensions to help you visualize how the wheel will fit. Don't forget to measure at full lock as well. Good luck.

a 24x10? you should have at minimum 6.75 b.s., 7" better. My Boss 22x9.5 have 6.75 so going to a 10, you should find a back space as I mentioned above.....especially lowered

those are great suggestions guys.....I appreciate the help. Does anyone know how backspacing relates to offset? The little that I know about offset is that there is negative and positive offsets and the number in mm's is how far in or out of dead centre the wheel will mount onto the hub.

BS is just another way of measuring the same thing. BS is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel (where it bolts to the hub) to it's rear edge. For me, it's just a lot easier to understand and visualize than offset.

Makes sense to me now. Thanks for the help.

To sum things up for everyone.......Its the same but different. lol

I think I am going to have to stick with a 9.5" width or buy wheels locally where I can try them on the truck before I buy them.

Backspacing is probably an easier measurement to use when determining if a particular wheel is going to fit in the wheel well properly although most wheels advertised online use offset measurements. Would it be safe to say that if a 10" wheel has an offset of 25mm off dead centre. 25 mm is pretty much an inch. At dead centre of a 10 " rim the backspacing would be 5 " and then the 25 mm (1") offset would change the backspacing from 5" to 6"?

You want a +35mm offset 100%. +25mm will stick out too far.

So a 24" x 10" wheel will work as long as its a +35mm offset? Youre right that I dont want them stick out too far but I also dont want them rubbing on the inner fenders.

A 24" rim with a +35mm offset on a 305/35/24 tire will fit your truck 100% NO PROBLEMS.
