Roter Problems on 2007 KR, anyone else???

I have had this ongoing problem with my 2007 KR and its roters. My car started shaking real bad when I used my breaks, even the steering wheel shook. I went to get my roters changed bc my truch was still under warranty. That was around 40,000 miles. I now have 60,000 miles and my truch has gone back to the shaking problem that it had before but worse. It has not even been a year..

Has any other KR owners experienced anything similar??? I need to figure this out so I can handle it appropriately. Thanks for any help.

Are you an abnormally hard breaker?

Bad brakes

Hello, First I must say I do not own a K.R. , but am familiar with the rotor problems. I own an 05 screw 4x4. The dealer replaced all the brakes on my truck when I purchased it at 20,000 miles , and I have replaced rotors under waranty twice since then, calipers as well. I now have around 89,000 miles on the truck and I feel I will be doing them again soon. I know I do drive my truck hard at times and it is a 5000 lb. vehicle but I think I should be able to get more than 20 to 30,000 miles out of them between replacement. I need advice on wich aftermarket manufacturer produces the better quality longer lasting rotors and pads, there are a lot of them out there and they all appear simmilar . Are the drilled or slotted rotors worth it ? Opinions vary on this subject. Just letting you know your not the only one whos truck eats brakes.

Brembo blanks (no need for slotted rotors) and Wagner Thermoquiet pads. Use semi-metallic DO NOT use ceramic pads or you will destroy your rotors. Hawk pads also seem to be popular around here.

Bad Rotors

I have a 2007 crew cab with ongoing rotor problems. The first time Ford turned the rotors with less than 7.489 miles, the 2nd time they replaced them with 16256 miles on the truck. Both times covered by warranty. I now have just under 28,000 miles and have to have the rotors looked at again. Time wise, the truck is no longer under warranty. I am not a heavy driver or brake hard. This is the only problem I have ever had with the truck.

Had my rotors turned under warranty at around 30k or so. Started shaking again at around 40k so I replaced them with Duralast. That was a month or so ago. I honestly think the stock rotors are junk. Mine is an 06 FX4 Crew. Replacements have been great so far.

it's not uncommon for the factory brakes to need replacing during the first 20-30k miles. my mom had an '03 navigator that needed front and rear brakes at 18k. she's not a particularly aggressive driver. i replaced front and rear with brembo rotors and wagner thermoquiet pads and they lasted until she traded it in at 74k miles.

If you are out of warranty DO NOT buy ford rotors or pads. The rotors get waaay too hot and cause the pads to break down prematurely. I bet you always have brake dust on your rims right. Get a good rotor (brembo) and good pads. If you tow heavy load the slotted rotors would be nice but if it is normal driving the standards are fine. Ford has had this problem on the trucks and suvs for many years now. The heavier the vehicle, the quicker they will fail.
