Hi Everybody,
I am looking to replace my current wheels and I will need new tires by winter.
My truck is a 2006 F150 super cab 4x4, black, all stock. When I purchased the truck used it had the factory 20" Roush wheels on it. Suffice it to say that the NH winters have not been nice to the crappy chrome finish.
I attempted to have the issue addressed with Ford Motor Co. while the truck was still under warranty but they flat out refused to take ANY responsibility since the wheels were made by Roush and not Ford. It made no matter that these wheels were OEM. I made countless calls over several months to No avail ! The truck is now well out of warranty and the wheels are getting to a condition where I need to seriously look at there replacement. I don't much care about them being 20" so I will most likely step back to a 17" / 18" package.
I have done many hours of online research and have looked at most all the online sources ie. tire rack, 1010 tires, 4wheelonline, performanceplustire, etc. etc.
I see that several of the online dealers offer a truly complete package which includes not only the wheel / tire but also mounting / balancing, install kits (lug nuts) and Free Shipping. So let me hear your recommendation, experiences, pros / cons etc.
4wheelonline has a good sale going on this month and I have put together a package I like with Nitto tires and Pro Comp wheels but the don't seem to offer the perks of a "package" deal that a few of the others do.
Share with me your thoughts, ideas and advice.

 

Honestly, you'll probably get a ton of different opinions. I've used tirerack for tires, but wasn't blow away by the rims. In the end I ended up getting the rims I wanted online, and then got a local tireshop to get the rubber. With all of the freebies from the local shop (lifetime rotate and balance, free seasonal mounting/unmounting of my snow tires, free extra set of lugnuts, valve stems, TPMS programming, etc, etc) I think I made out OK.

FYI, I got my rims at discounttiredirect, but I've bought several sets of tires from tirerack with no complaints.

I just took a look at discounttiredirect.com and they seem to have reasonable and comparable pricing for a complete package.

 

If you call them to place your order they will make you allot better deal. Got my last set of wheels and tires from them with free shipping and they cut me an extra $100 break and threw in the road force balance and chrome Gorilla lugs.

its pretty bad when you can order a set of rims and tires together and pay $2-300 more than just tires!

 

Your statement has lost me.
If you can buy a complete tire/wheel package delivered to your door ready to be installed for $2-$300 more then just the tires alone, How can that be bad ?
That would mean (to me) that for the extra $2-$300 I got 4 wheels, mounting / balancing, lugnuts, center caps and shipping to my door.
Am I missing something or was this just a facetious statement ?

 

Maybe if they're cheap quality wheels with cheap quality tires compared to high quality tires. My 33" Toyos were $1400 and wheels were $960, $60 mount & balanced.

37" tires aren't as expensive as that.

Don't beat yourself up, you're not all that far off. I purchased my new tires and rims in April and between just getting tires or getting a tire and rim package that included mounting/road force balancing/shipping and new lugs the difference was less than $500, I would have spent over a $100 just to get the new tires mounted so adding the rims seemed pretty inexpensive.

 

I have to agree, when I was doing this whole process, go for rimzoneonline.com for the wheels which they have free shipping and very cheap wheels. Then I used tirerack.com for the tires and got them very cheap there to and used a local shop to mount, balance them for me.
