TPMS mounting

Just wanted to know if it matters where the tpms band style sensor is mounted, can it be mounted in the middle of the rim or does it have to mounted close to outside edge of the rim?

I just went thru this with my new tires. The guys at the shop suggested that I mount the sensor band so that the craddle sits flat on the inner portion of the small flat in the wheel. Make sure you note the reference on the the sensor which shows which orientation to mount the sensor/cradle.

So if I mount it in the center of the rim, 180 from the valve stem it should work okay?
