Rim and Caliper Issue.

I just bought 33" toyo o/c m/t, the truck has a 3" lift on it. I bought 16x8 rims with a 4.25" Backspace, the passenger side rim just clears the brake caliper but the drivers side is rubbing, i would hate to throw spacers on there.. im stuck right now

That is really weird. I've only seen a problem with 16's rubbing once and it was on a friends Expy (using a 16x10 with 4.5 inches of BS). He solved it by using a thin (I think 1/8 inch) wheel spacer.

i would just hate to throw spacers on there you know? but i guess i gotta do what i gotta do, the caliper fits in the rim, its the side of the caliper rubbing against the back of the rim. im gonna take it apart and try and figure something out a buddy suggested grinding the caliper down but im not for all that.

like wandell said try using a spacer, i would try a flat washer on each stud under the rim to bring it away from the caliper. might be all it needs.

yeah that might work, ill pick up 1/8" washer and throw em on in a little bit, any ideas about how it might work with wear and tear on the front end. at this point i just want it running. let you guys know how it goes though.

My friend used a washer on each stud to get by. His wheels also did the same thing. The back of the wheel touched the side of the caliber.

What year is your truck? I've got a set of 1" spacers if you want them.

98 my man. im not trying to go too far out, im trying to stay in as much as i can. The 1/8" washers left a little rubbing so i doubled them up and the rim was clearing fine. so im guessing about 1/4" spacer, and that brings the rim a little less than flush with the hub, the hub sits out about a 32nd or so. so im hoping theres no issue with the lugs getting a little bit shortened, all the weight should still be on the hub correct?

I wouldn't worry about it. The only problem your gonna have is it will eat away at your bearings a little faster. But with such a small spacer, it won't be anything serious at all.
