Going to the ghetto for some rims next week - base question?

For an 05 F150 with 295/70/17 Nittos I want to replace the stock rims. I know the bolt pattern is 6-135 but before I walk into a shop and get taken like a fool can anyone give me a base range I need to be looking for?

I'm ok with flush tires being tucked in but I would rather them stick out a tad. Is their a offset range I should stay between and anything else I need to make notes about before walking my white **** into these shops?

Most 17" wheels are 8 or 9 inches wide with backspacing 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 inches. A 17x8 with 5 1/2 inches of BS is as close to stock specs as you can get and will only stick out 1/2" more then stock. A 9" wheel with 5 inches of BS will stick out 2 inches more then stock. This is what I have on my truck now. Hope it's not too confusing!

You have 17x9 w/5 inches of backspace with a bolt pattern of 6-135, correct?

Also why did PorkCereal say +20-25? That seems alot more than 5 inches of BS.

he was talking about millimeters not inches. There is a nice sticky at the top of the page to look at for rim sizes. play around with that, it really helps out.

That's correct, those are on my truck now with the Toyo MT's. 17x9 w/5" BS and a 0 degree offset.
