toyo open country mt's in a 275/70/18?

So my stock rugged trails are starting to see the light after 42000 miles and I was wanting to go to more aggressive tire. I don't do lots of off roading but I do go play in the mud when it rains and I enjoy camping and stuff which usually puts me off the paved road quite a ways. I have done much reading and have heard excellent things in regards to performance and mileage on the toyo mt's and was wondering if anyone has these tires in that size (275/70/18) on there truck? Also do u think I would regret putting these on my truck? Its a 2007 screw fx4 by the way. I have the bilstein 5100's for all four corners but they have yet to be installed but will be before the new tires go on. The only other tire I was looking at was the BFG AT KO in 305/65/18. Which way should I go! Thanks and sorry for the long post!

I had the toyos on my 05 for two years in the 285 75 18's which is almost 2" bigger then the size your looking at, but they were great tires, good in all weather even winter.
The only issues i had with them was that they are extremely heavy, (mine were like 75lbs a piece) when compared to other tires in similar sizes, so in my case i went with 35's and lost 3-4 mpg easily, I had some issues with clunking when coming in and out of 4x4, and had a driveline clunk from the rear when under hard acceleration. I sold them and bought nitto terra grapplers in 33's and they weighed in at only 45lbs and ALL those issues totally went away. SO to me these trucks are not able to handle 35's, especially the toyos.
Now if the weigh is lower, which it should be, on the size your looking at you should have none of those issues.
Basically when researching tires if you go to the manufacturers websites and view all the specs before you make your decisions.
the toyos are excellent tires though.

Anyone got a good source to find the tire sizes? BFG's website is worthless imho and toyo has every bit of info u could want except for the weight. Also anyone got pics of the toyos in that size on a leveled f150? Preferably a screw fx4 but any pics of the toyos in that size will work. Just need a visual of what I'm the truck will sorta look like.

Toyo should have the weight's listed on their home page. My 295x70x17's show a weight of 72lbs. ea. They are heavy but maybe the best MT for doing a lot of highway driving like I do. Not too loud and grip real good in the rain. I should get 40k miles out them easily. More rolling resistence then a all- terrain or a highway tread design so expect about a 1 mpg loss at highway speeds.

The 275x70x18 is 33.6x11x18 and weighs 66 lbs per Toyo's website. Nice size for a leveled 4x4.

Yeah got the weight on the toyo's, but BFG I cannot find the weights anywhere. Got two questions about BFG's... How much does the stock 18 inch Rugged Trail TA weigh, and how much does the 305/65/18 BFG AT KO weigh? are the BFG AT KO's good offroad?

LOL Guess that was 3 questions!

Never weighed my stock BFG 18" Rugged Trails but I guess they are about 40-45 lbs. ea. The 305x65x18 BFG AT I would guess about 60-62 lbs. ea. I ran some 315x70x17 BFG AT's on my truck before the Toyo MT's and they did great. OK offroad in everything but a lot of mud and that's to be expected. They were maybe the best overall tire I've ever owned, just wanted the look's of the Toyo's.

Well I think I will be leaving the 305/65/18's out cuz the local 4wheelparts said that on the 07 FX4 that ford made the same wheels but with different offsets and that with the offset I have they would rub the suspension. So now I am stuck between the 275/70 or a 285/65's do you think that the 285/65 would look to short with the bilsteins since the are only 32.8 or so and the 275/70 is 33.6 or so. Sorry to be bugging with all the dumb questions but need some opinions.

As far as I know the stock 18" wheels are 7.5 inches wide with a 5.5 inch backspace. The 20" wheels are the ones that may give a problem with backspacing. I would go with the 275/70 just because of the extra height to fill in the wheelwells and would fit great on the stock wheels. Just not as wide as the other's which may be a good thing sometimes. Check with Wandell on the stock wheel backspacing size.
