Toyo tires
I dont know the answer to your question, but I did just buy some Toyo tires. While speaking with the salesman. I refered to the tires as Japanese he told me some of the Toyos are actually made in the U.S.A. in Georgia. I have no Idea if this is the truth or not. If anyone knows anything about it I 'd like to know. Those prices seem really high. The Toyos I just bought last week 305/45/22 proxes st 2's were about $175. ea free shipping

Me: Are any of the Open Country A/T or Open Country M/T tires being
manufactured out of the White, Georgia USA plant?
Toyo: Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires USA. We produce these tires in
either White, GA or Japan depending on production scheduling. The only
way to determine is on the actual sidewall of the tire.
Sincerely,
Toyo Tires USA

The bottom line on tire prices is pretty simple really.
In the last 10 years the price of natural rubber, oil/energy and steel has been all over the place.
Sometimes, like a couple years ago, they were all through the roof at the same time.
In the last 12 months raw material costs in the US to make tires have increased approximately 40-45%.
The only direct result I saw of the Chinese tire tariff is ALL the tire manufacturers did an immediate price increase on ALL their tires...
