285 75 17 and 2002 F150 FX4 SCREW?

Okay, I was wondering if the 285 75 17 tire will fit? With just the stock torsions twisted up some? I already have the torsions up to level.

After some searching I really didnt get a difinitive answer. With many people asking the same question and others switching it to 285 70 17 yes I know they will fit, but thats not what I want. I want the 285 75 17. Which is a little over an inch taller.

Also if you have a 97-03 f150 fx4 that has stock 17 rims with just torsions turned up and this size tire please post pics I would like to see what I can exspect before I actually buy. Thanks

Yes, they will fit easily using the OEM wheels. You probably won't find many/any pics since it's an unusual size.

Thanks for the reply, I would think that if more people offered this size than more people would have them.

I plan on running this size on my FX4 wheels. The only down side is the very limited selection, Nitto Terra Grappler and Dura Grappler, Toyo A/T and M/t. Get a side pic of your truck and a picture of the tires and ask the photoshop thread to put it together. A bunch of guys on dodge cummins forums run that size since they are E rated so you may find some pictures there.

Another option is 305/70/17 which is about 34x12.00x17 (only .5" wider than the 285/75/17 = 34x11.5x17) and you have the Nitto Terra Grappler, Goodyear MTR, Maxxis Bighorn.

Yes, the 305 is roughly the same heighth but is closer to an inch wider. I want to stay in the 34" range but want a thinner tire. I would look to buy 265 80 17 if someone made them or even 275 75 17.

295x70x17 Toyo MT's 33.5x12x17 would also be a good fit and more readily available.

I'm trying to wait to see if anybody is offering free shipping on toyos because shipping 4 285/75/17 MTs is killer at 70lbs per tire. I'm going to be getting the 5" RCD lift, I know I should run 35" but I don't want to change wheels and I'm just not confident of even tire wear with a 12.5" wide tire on a 7.5" rim. I don't care for the Nitto terras or toyo a/t as much just seem to plain. Best price i've seen on the Toyo MT is $282 from Treadepot.com and they don't have them in stock often. http://www.onlinetires.com/products/...r%22+121q.html is the best price on the Nitto Terra Grapplers and would even be able to get 5 for a full size spare under the bed.

If you get tires before you lift it Id like to see pics. Your right about the uneven wear. That's another reason why I really don't want to go any wider than 285. Plus gas mileage ect, ect. I know people have done it but I really don't think its to safe going 12.5 wide on stock 7.5s. Especially when deflating for off road use.

Well 275 65 18 measure only close to a half inch taller than stock and close to half of inch wider. The tires I want are a bout two and a quarter inches taller than stock and closer to an inch wider than stock. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

I now know that they will definitely fit. As people have told me this and others have larger on their unlifted trucks. I would like to see what 285 75 17 looks like on a unlifted f150 before I pull the trigger on a set.

I know they are rare, but anyone pics please!

You're right on with those measurements. I was hoping to wait to put the lift on first before the tires. I know they are NBS trucks but both are leveled with 285/75/17 toyo mt https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ther-view.html, https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...flareside.html so similar height with a torsion crank. Are you looking at the Nittos, Toyo A/T or MT?

I have 285/70R17 BFG KM2s on my truck and absolutely love em.
They have over 50k miles on them an still have another 5-10k miles to go!

But you can fit 35s on your truck with stock wheels but will have to do some trimming and they will rub when you turn/suspension compression

I was looking at getting a A/T tire, but after seeing those Toyo M/T's I'm thinking more on getting a set of those. Do you or any one know how many miles they usually last. Plus how are they in the snow? I get a lot of snow her in Northern NY. Even though those trucks are 2004 and up models, It gave me a good idea. I think this size is the perfect size for our trucks especially with stocks on. Still wish I could see a 2002 fx4 screw leveled with these.

So your going to lift first any particular reason? I would think If you don't have the money to do them both at the same time. That if you lift it first the stocks would look kind of funny (to small). Can I push you toward putting them on first? You probably already know that it will lift it a little over an inch just by putting this size tire on. Then you might change your mind on how high you want your lift. Am I swaying you yet? Lol

I plan on a re-gear also to at least 4.11 or 4.56. I have 3.55 open right now and a detroit tru-trac waiting to go in with gears. I think I'm going to have my buddy help with the lift install first and replace ball joints, tie rods, rotors and pads all at the same time. Then have the shop install the new tires and only have to do 1 alignment. For an MT I hear the Toyos are one of the best as far as wear, snow and rain, they do offer some siping which lacks in most MT tires.
