Brake Pad Material change

Does any one have any info on going to ceramic pads after you have run carbon metallics for 3,000 mi.?
Had new rotor's up front installed and they put the carbons on,I redone the rear and added ceramics, and they seem better and was going to switch the front pads out.
I seem to remember that as being a no-no unless you put new rotor's on.
Or maybe I'm smoking dope!

I put Wagner ceramics on my OEM rotors, they grooved into them and worn into the rotor. I'm now running semi-metallics on my new slotted rotors and stopping is phenomenal.
