Tire Wear

can someone, anyone tell me what went wrong here?
these tires barely lasted 12 months (minimal driving, not daily driver), and at close to $300 a pop, i need to get it right when i replace them. this is ridiculous. what is the best way to align tires this size these are Mickey Thompsons MTZ. the rear tires are like brand new.

is it just the fronts an also how many miles did you put on them ?

Is your truck aligned properly ?

Did you rotate them every 3,000 miles ?

Are the tires balanced correctly ?

take them to a shop that has a road force balancing machine

Looks like to me your wheels where negative cambered and caused the wear on the insides.

its just the fronts
way less than 3000 miles
i did do an alignment (obviously wasn't done right)
didnt drive enough miles to warrant a rotation

That is and alignment issue for sure. That tire should not have worn like that on the inside.

I agree. Your front end alignment is the issue. The tone of your post sounds like you think the shop didn't align it correctly. But keep in mind, the alignment could have been "knocked out" quickly. For instance, offroading, hitting a curb, hitting a pothole or any number of things could have ruined the alignment. That is why it is important to keep a close eye on your tire wear. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but you should have noticed the uneven wear long before the tires reached that point.

Also, you are talking a 7 year old truck. What shape are things like tie-rod ends, ball joints, etc? If worn out, it would be impossible to keep in alignment.
Did you have a recent lift, or has it been on a while? Was it really done properly?

kingfish hit the nail on the head, looks like you've got a front end issue. If the alignment was done by someone that does it daily, it wouldnt of been wrong. So, I say thats not the issue. Jack up the front end and check for play top to bottom and side to side then check the boots and bushings in the front end. Had same wear from tie rod ends, and idler and pitman arm
