Toyo M/T question

Trying to decide which Toyo m/t would work best. '07 4x4 with 2" A/S spacer and stock 20" wheels. 275/65/20 or 315/60/20? Would either rub without trimming? I know the 275/65 are 34 x 11 and I'm looking for something around 34" but will the 11 inch width look too skinny? What is the width of the 315/60? Sorry so many questions but want to get it right on the first try!

I have 305/55/20 (33x12.5x20) with a 2" AS. They are VERY close on the front to rubbing. No trimming but there is a picture in my gallery of how close they are at partial lock; about 1/4" clearance. I would think 315/60/20 would def require trimming with just a level kit. 275/65/20 might be too tall and also require trimming but less than the 315. Personally living in FL I would go with a wider tire and shorter sidewall for better appearance. I would say if you have snow to get a shorter width tire for better winter driving. Personally I like the 33x12.5x20's which numerous people run as I'm sure you have researched.

IMO 11" will be a little skinny depending on your wheel backspacing.

A 315 tire is approximately 12.4 inches wide, so most tire companies call them 12.5s. (A 275 is 10.8 inches wide) A 315/60 is just short of 35 inches, so they will rub with only a 2" level.

Why not look for a 33x12.5x20? They are $342 at rimzoneonline.

I was under the impression that 12.5 width was too wide for the 20 inch stockers. If I go 33 x 12.50, won't I need new wheels? Thanks for the replies. BTW, both of your trucks are very nice. Trying to get that look myself, but don't know how black wheels would look with the two tone black / tan that I have, that's why I was sticking with stock wheels.

The OEM 20's are 8.5 inches wide so any of the sizes you mentioned will fit the wheel. The problem with the OEM 20's is they have 6.5 inches of BS. This puts the inner sidewall of the tire very close to the upper control arm/ball joint. Some 12.50 inch wide tires with aggressive sidewalls will rub at this point you you need to test fit one to make sure.

As Wandell said, you can run a 12.5 wide tire on an 8.5 rim without issues. If you look on the mfg's web site, they will list the approved rim widths that will work with their tires.

Tire Size ------ Rim Widths
33X12.50R20LT 8.5 - 11.0

However, the high positive offset of the factory 20x8.5 will be very close to the inside with the aggressive pattern of the Toyo MTs.

Here is a black/tan KR with 20" black wheels and Toyo MTs, which I think looks very good.

Thanks for the input guys. KR, that's exactly my paint scheme, so I've got a good idea what it would look like (though I'd have to delete the running boards.) Looks pretty dang good.
