305/55/20 bfg A/T KO on factory rims no level/lift????

Is anybody running BFG A/T KO on 20" factory rims w/o level or lift???? Need to pull the trigger on some new tires and would like to have some real -life input if these will fit. Evidently, some tires of this size fit, and others rub. BTW, the truck is an 09 FX4. Advise will be appreciated.

I have an 07 FX4 and wanting to put 305/55/20 nitto Trail Grapplers on with a 2.5 leveling kit. If I get those on after this post sometime I will let you know about the rubbing. Hope there isn't any. But i think at full lock there might be slight rubbing, which should be no big deal. Anybody else have any feeback, I would greatly appreciate it.

Will be watching this thread as I intend on running a MT in the 305/55R20 size on the factory wheel on my 2.5" Kit.

I think you need atleast the leveling kit. They arent that much like around 70 to 100 bucks. Hopefully the more experienced tire and lift experts can chime in.

The problem with tires that wide on the OEM 20's is the wheel's 6.5 inches of backspacing. This tucks the tire in so much that some 305mm (12.50 inch) wide tires will rub the upper ball joint/control arm as soon as the wheel is bolted down. This is usually a problem with tires with aggressive sidewall lugs like a lot of mud tires have.

Yeah the moto metals have a pretty low offset though so you would rub on the fender....where are the stock 20's have a high offset so the rubbing occurs on the control arm and ball joint (as mentioned above)

The key is to find a wheel with an offset between +25 and +35. But without the level kit it is not gonna happen no matter what!

Damn. I really don't want to put a leveling kit on. I drive a lot - about 40K miles a year - and don't want any undo stress on the suspension or driveline by doing a leveling kit. I really like the BFG A/T KO's and I like the factory FX4 wheels. Next best option is the 285/55/20, I guess? Not much bigger than stock I don't think. Would there be any rubbing issues with those?

If the 305/55-20's don't hit the upper control arm, I think you will be fine at stock height. If they do, go to the slightly narrower 285/55-20. You are basically comparing a 33x12.50 and a 33x11.50 tire.

I was wondering almost the same thing. I was looking at 275/65R20 with a 1.5 inch leveling kit. Tire shows that is 34" and I should be good on width wouldn't you think?

Yes, the first number is the width of the tire in millimeters.

I'd like to also put a 305/55/20 BFG KO on my 2010 FX4, wondering if I need a level kit to do it. Anyone?

If I do have to do a level I might as well go a little bigger, maybe 275/65/20 or 325/60/20.
