Wheel & Tire size Change
Hi All,
Finally ready to replace the stock 235/75/17 on my 07 Scab 4x4. Was looking to replace the stock 17 inch rims with a set of 18" FX4 rims. Tires will either be 275/70/18 or 285/65/18. The truck has a 3.55 gear. How much of a performance hit will this bring? Also, will a tuner help offset this?
Thanks for any help on this.

Installed ...
Well, they are installed ... and I like it !!!
For me the 275's fill out the wheel wells alot better than my old factory 255's. I didn't want the big bubba "balloon" look and the new tires give me the look I was after. I do not feel like I should have went larger.
The funny thing is; all the online tire calculators I used said that when my speedometer reads 65 mph I will acutally be traveling 67.31.
I tried 2 different gps devices; magellan and my droid:
at 35 gps read 36
at 45 gps read 46
at 55 gps read 56
at 62 gps read 63
at 65 gps read 66
I can live with that and I'm not going to take it to the dealership to have it adjusted.
I do not feel any lose of power and the Wrangler AT/S tires do not have much road noise, I would say just a little more than a regular road radial.
Just thought I'd post it up.
It's dark out now, I'll wash the truck tomorrow to get all the road salt and grim off and snap some pics.

You could also mess with this if you wanted to try something different.

If your speedo isn't off any more than that, then that tells you right there you had a very insignificant overall ratio change. I hope you enjoy those tires...I had a set and was the absolute worst set of tires I've ever owned to the point they almost ruined me against GY as a whole...but I love my MTR's,
