275/70/18 tire pressure?

What would be a good pressure to have in a tire this size? They are Cooper Zeon LTZ's. When the tires were put on they only put in 40lbs. I thought that was low and jacked them up to 50lbs in the front and 48lbs in the back. Not sure if that's overkill or not, just seemed too soft at 40lbs. Looking for some input from people who have tires this size. Thanks......

Per Cooper's site that is a LR E, but it does not tell me the max pressure. If max is 65, run 45 and don't go below 40. If 80, you can run anywhere from 45-50, but do not go below 45.

They're LT 275/70/18. E rated. Seems like the outer edge of the tire isn't as sharp as it was when new, it's only 1000 miles. That's why I went higher on the pressure. Maybe bad tires? Any input would be appreciated....

Chances are the pressure was a little low at 40, I say your call to increase was the right choice. Keep it at that for a while and see how your wear goes.

Thanks MD.... I'll give that a go... Do you think that 50lbs. in the front could be too high? Or maybe try it and see how the tires wear and adjust accordingly... Appreciate your info............
