Polished to Black

I have not been on here for quite some time, but I need help and as always I know you all will come through for me. i have polished wheels on my truck now, and I am so tired of polishing/having them polished. I was curious if anyone has ever had polished wheels painted or powder coated? What was the cost? what did they look like? do you have pics? any help would be great.

I haven't seen any aluminum vehicle wheels powder coated before, but have seen them done on motorcycles. From what I seen they came out great and didn't look any different than normal steel being powder coated.

97 XL, Did you do that yourself, what kind of prep work? If not yourself what was the cost on getting them done? How long has it been and how have they held up?

I had a local shop do it since I wanted it done right with no runs in the paint. Cost was about $140. They've been through 2 summers of driving and I've only had to do minor touch ups around the holes one time after the shop rotated the tires. They didn't use the teflon coated socket I provided and they chipped some paint off.

Clear powdercoating is great, you can also have them sprayed with a urathane clear, which works almost as well, but you will have to give them a coat of wax every once in a while.

I didn't figure that clear would stick to polished. It works well on machined, though.

X2

I first wanted mine to just be cleared but they tried 3 times and all 3 times the clear just balled up like fish eggs so I told them just paint them black.

Well my polished are in rough shape, and I am tried of cleaning them, so my options are to sell them or paint them black......looks like black is a def option for 140.00. I don't think I could find a nice set of 18x10's in black or chrome for a decent price anyway
