295/70 18 Nitto Trail Grappler
I've got a question that's probably been asked 100 times. I've got an 08 F150 SuperCrew Lariat (5.4) that had 275/65 18 BFG Rugged Trails from the factory. I'm looking at going to the Nitto Trail Grappler 295/70 18's. I've got a 2.5" level on the front. For you guys who've made this move already, do you notice much difference in the way your truck shifts, gas mileage or speedometer? I'm being told by the factory that it'll throw everything out of whack and they'll "do the best they can to get it back in spec". Has anyone experienced issues jumping sizes like this? Thanks in advance.

this is my 2005 f150 with 295/70-18 tires with a 3" leveling kit. shifts are the same. gas mileage went down to around 11ish in the city and still around 18 ish on highway. and i havent checked the speed yet but i do need to do some trimming on the back side of the front tires to prevent scrubbing when turning.

Ive been thinking of getting the same size tires and figured that size would clear easily since others use 35/12.5's and those are 34/11.5's.

I have an 05 FX4 and am looking to buy a 2.5 AS leveling kit and some Nitto Trail Grappler's. I'm gonna run them on my stock wheels and will probably go with that 295/70/18's. I have been asking myself these same questions lately considering the mileage change and the speedo change. Personally I will deal with it because I think the truck looks badass with this setup. If you guys could post pics of the setup with these tires and leveling kit, that would be awesome! Thanks

If I get TIS 534B 18x9 with +0 offset and stock size 275/65/18 Toyo Open Country AT2 will they stick out from the fender at all? I'd like to stay away from power and mileage loss but want a slightly wider stance.
I love that look of the 295/70/18 but also afraid of tranny stress or need to regear?

I have been running 295/70/18 on stock wheels for years now, actually on my second set. From factory size tires, I did notice a small loss in performance, and gas mileage, but with my programmer its not bad, programmer also corrected speedometer offset. The tradeoff for the larger tires are worth it in my opinion. Here are some pics of the truck, I will be happy to answer any specific questions about the setup.

Yes the rims are 7.5 wide.
Very little rubbing on the lower control arm, they used to not rub at all. I am thinking either the tire got a little wider over time (squish factor), or I also noticed the little stop tab on the lower control arm that is aluminum has worn down some due to contact with the steel tab on the spindle so it may turn a tad further. No trimming required at all and the rubbing does not occur all the time, just occasionally at full steering lock.
As for the programmer its now selling for $369. You can find it here: http://www.gopowerhungry.com/_gryphon.shtml
