Trade in your tires???????

I just got a 2010 screwcab lariet and love it. The only issue I have with it, the cheesy goodyear tires that came on it. I only have about 1000 miles on them and want to upgrade to some bigger BFG's. Has anybody heard of a shop giving decent prices for slighty used tires, on basically a trade in???? I really like to avoid trying to sell them myself. Any advice is appreciated!

I have seen some local shops take slightly used tires in, especially if you're going to buy new tires from them. Your best bet is to go to a few shops and ask. Worst case, you have to sell them on your own, which probably won't be too hard if the price is right. Good luck.

Back when my 07 was new, 400 miles to be exact. My tire shop, a local family owned and run business. Gave me 150 per tire in trade on the Goodyears I had them put on. I've been doing business with these guys for 15 years, so that probably was a major factor in such a good deal.

Personally, I would list your tires at a fair price on craigslist and just sell them. It's really not much of a hassle. Just remember that used tires, even with just a 1000 miles aren't worth all that much.

The dealer took mine in trade toward some BFG's but it was only a couple days and less than 200 miles after I got the truck. They gave me $300 for the OE Michelins and I negotiated the balance at the time I purchased the truck.

Yup, I've heard of tire stores doing this. Never hurts to ask, and do it sooner than later.

Otherwise, you could always put up some nice new tire swings in your yard.
