can anyone tell why these tires are so cheap?

I'm one of those that once I have a problem with a BRAND I won't use them again (or at least for a really long time). Its just my $0.02, they work for you - great!

Tires are pretty cheap in general. (Wholesale Wise)
When you buy tires at retail price, there is always 35-50+% mark up.
The markup dictates how much profit the seller wants to make.
I have been in the Tire Business for more than 5 Years. That's just how it works MOST PLACES.
Sounds like they just aren't marking up very much. Still a good deal.

If you have a Pep Boys near you, I was able to buy the Cooper Zeon LTZ tires 2 weeks ago for very cheap. They had a special Buy 3 Tires, Get the 4th Free. The tires were $204 a piece.
I should have said something earlier. It looks like it ends today. http://www.pepboys.com/
