Caliper piston problems

Just recently I changed my front brakes and found that the inner pad on the drivers side was so worn down it had hit metal while the outside one was normal. When I went to compress the pistons they were so tight they wouldn't budge, and when I released the bleeder valve only a few drops would come out. I finally got them to go down and finished the job but now they're back to sticking and my brakes are dragging bad. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

sounds like you need to either rebuild or replace the caliper.

Bad to worse

Well I would say this just became an urgent matter. Just went for a drive and when I got back it was smoking it's dragging so bad.

I believe they changed the calipers sometime in 05 for sticking problems. Not sure when, and whether yours are new or old part. Might want to check to see if there are new parts (TSB included caliper and rotor).

Anyone replace their caliper with one from a local parts store? That's all I have available but I didn't really want to cheap out and get some junk caliper.

Just had the same problem. Needed pads all the way around for inspection. Once finished, couldn't get the Front Driver's side to release. Smoked and Smelled for a week, MPG suffered, couldn't coast in drive. Bought an Aftermarket Caliper from Advanced Auto put on and it's back to normal.
Good Luck

Just did the exact same thing lol. It was a remanned Cardone or something like that, $110 with a $50 core. Hopefully it holds up.

If you change one side, do the other too. I just did both of mine yesterday.

I had my front passenger side lock up on me this weekend, went to the town parts house and picked up a remanufactred one for $63 + $55 for the core. Replaced and works fine. Thinking about doing the driver side next weekend when im not so busy and can work on her and enjoy it.
