BF Goodrich Rugged Trail TA

BF Goodrich Rugged Trail TA
The set of tires I have on my truck are doing something strange. They appear to be giving signs of dry rot. In between the tread lugs and on the out edges of the tires it looks like dry rot. I have about twenty thousand miles on them. They were put on new by my dealer when I purchased my 2004 F150. (I bought the truck used.) Has anyone else seen this happen or have any input to why it's happening. It's not a issue of incorrect air pressure.

I have a 2008 with 35500 on it. The BFG Rugged Trails are original to the truck. My tires are doing the same thing. In fact, the cracking is so bad that Wal Mart will not rotate and balance them because of the potential hazard. I contacted BFG on Saturday and have to take it in to an authorized dealer to be inspected. I have had these tires rotated every 5-6K miles since I have owned the truck and have never applied any tire dressing that may lead to something like this. Has anyone else had these problems?

I almost wonder if its an issue with BFG. I have some aftermarket 315/70/R17 A/T KOs I put on my truck and I have almost 40K on them and the tire side walls are fine, but the tread in the middle of the blocks is looking like its dry rotting and the (i don't know the actual name) air filler stub looks like i could bend it over and snap it off its so dry rotted, and those have been that way for almost 30K miles.... Granted, I have put these tires thru a lot of mud and dirt and such, but they were sold to me from BFG as off road tires and by golly if I haven't used them offroad, but they should nevertheless last 50K without me worrying about the air filler stub breaking off whenever I wash the wheels or apply pressure to it when filling the tires with air. Not completely sure Im going with BFG next time around. I was looking at KM2s, but Im now considering Federal Couragia MTs. And just PS, if you ever go offroad, I mean EVER... just save yourself a lot of time, energy, hassle of calling your friends up and spending 2 or 3 hours to pull a stuck truck that dug itself in the ground from caked tires and just buy some moderately aggressive mud tires, or even go all out and get some toyos which will last you a long time. That's just my .02

i have had two sets of the bfg long trail ta's and they have been great tires. The originals lasted 55k then had some Continetal Conti Tracs thats lasted 40k and got another set of long trail ta's and so far they have 25k and no cracks and still at 8/32nd tread. Other than michelin's bfg's are always my top pick..
