Pro Comp?

For those of you with procomp tires, How do you like em? I have 295/75/16 BFG AT KO on my '01 superduty and I really don't like them. I would have never bought them because I have never really liked BFG. I think they are over priced. But I traded tires and wheels and got these. Now I think I want some ProComp mud terrains. Looking for feedback. It is either them or the new Goodyear MT/R. Opinions/suggestions? Would trade my KOs for equivilant size and tread. They have about 10,000miles, I'd say 3/4 tread.

I just got a set of Pro Comps AT/S. I love them, truly a great tire. I had gone through two sets of BFG's, and decided to try this brand. They really are great, and so quiet, and great in the rain. Gonna last a good while too. You won't be dissapointed. To see pics, go too www.F150World.com/Mudder

I just put 33" ProComp Mud Terrains on my truck and I love them. They look great. I wanted a more radical look than an all terrain. I would say they were worth every penny. I would definitely advise you to buy them if you are going to get new tires.

I have heard over on Ford-diesel a few guys having problems getting them to balance. (PC MT) Also I have heard the same about the MT/R. Maybe I'll just get some Swampers!! Truck looks good Mudder!! But I think I want a more MUD tire.

I find that odd that those guys say that. I just read a 3 page article in 4wheel parts magazine on the ProComp Mud Terrain. They say that they are one of the best values on the market and one of the best performing mud terrain tires on the market. They were very impressed with the way the tire performed off road and even more impressed with the way it performed on the highway. They said that it is hard to find a mud terrain tire that is so well suited for both on and off road. They also said that you can expect a long life out of these meats, they go on to explain why in the article. It had to do with the composition of the tire. Oh well, just a little info for you.

Interestingly, my buddy just dumped his BFG MTs and got the 33x12.50 on 15's PC MTs and has 8 oz to balance his front right tire. The other weren't so bad, around 3-4 oz. Crazy weight on that one tho.

I have the PC Muds and love them. The noise level is in between the BFG AT's and MT's. I have almost 8K miles on them and no excess wear. I didn't have any balancing problems at all.
My only complaint is they're pretty lousy on ice/snow, but I don't have them studded.

attitude,
the mt/r is a fine tire. probably the best i've ever run at doing some of everything. i looked at the pro-comp tires and was unsure of them for 2 reasons. 1-they were a brand new tire from someone i had never heard of in the tire business before, and 2-the sidewalls looked really weak to me compared to the gy's.
i've owned most every brand of heavy lug mud tire in my over 20 years of driving and consider the mt/r as one of the very best. pricey, but still a good tire, Rich.

Yeah I really like the MT/R. And I do agree about the sidewall issue. In my opinion the BFG has a week sidewall as well. The best I think I've run is a Swamper SX. I've had 3 sets of them and like em alot. But I'm really torn on this set. I want the MT/Rs but I am in somewhat of a delima with Goodyear right now as it is. I am not happy with the Goodyear Nascar tires on my Grand Prix. The yellow letters are faded and real pale yellow now. And that is the main reason I bought them, is for the yellow letters to accent all my other mods Maybe they'll just give me a set of MT/rs for customer SATISFACTION !!!

attitude,
if they'll give you one set, see if you can get two. i'll buy the odd set from you. lol, Rich. btw, i've run swampers too and really liked them in the rough. they seemed to wear quick to me though and were much louder than the mt/r. could have been a size thing, too. the swampers were 36"ers compared to 32's on my truck now.

Thumbs up

I just got a set of Procomp AT 35's not too long ago and I love them. They are really quiet like someone else said and I especially like the 50,000 mile tread warranty on them. I'd say go for them they have been great for me so far.

unless you guys are driving thru the forest or swamp everyday to work then spending your money on mud terrain tires is kind of a waste. mud terrain tires have a softer rubber on the *****, therefore they don't last as long when dirven around town or on the freeway. the rubber on all terrain tires is a little bit more dinse. i have owned many sets of m/t's and hate having to replace them every 25,000 to 40,000 miles. the all terrain tires can go anywhere and do almost everything the muds do. most of us don't drive in the sand or mud enough to justify spending the extra money for tires that don't last as long. just my opinion though.

Yes I may not really NEED an MT but since I WANT an MT I am gonna get one And as far as price, who really gives a ****? The BFG AT KO is More than a Pro-Comp MT so who is talking about muds being more $$? And so what if I have to replace them more often. I am usually tire of something and want different before I really need new anyway Hell my BFG at KOs are still about 75% tread, but I WANT something different. And nothin looks tougher than a big ol' set of meats with nobbies hangin out past the fenders
