Mount/Balance Question
Hey Guys (and girls),
I just purchased an 04 F150 Supercrew Lariat last weekend and i am having a leveling kit installed Tuesday. I purchased 4 Eagle Alloy 20" rims and Toyo MT tires that i had mounted and balanced today. The people at the tire shop informed me that the rim with the least amount of weight on it needs to be the front left tire, then front right, then rear left and most being at the rear right. Well they put the most weight on the tire with the least amount of tread (45%) when i have 2 tires with 90% tread. Does this make sense? Can i put any wheels and tires wherever i need or does the weight really matter that much? I have 2 tires with 45% tread and 2 with 90%. What do you guys recommend? And yes, i will post pictures when i get everything on.
Thanks to all you experts!

Wandell,
Thanks for replying. can you tell me why better tires up front? i have always been under the impression that more tread you want on the rear of a RWD vehicle. I would understand better tread up front for a FWD. Do you know if the weights matter at all? the rim with most weights has 16, and one rim has no weights..

The more tread, the less chance of hydroplaning. If we never drove in the rain and no one ever spilled oil or other stuff on the road we would all be driving around on racing slicks for maximum traction. As for the amount of weight, I see the point in thinking it may reduce the chances of vibration issues by putting the "truest" tires up front. But if they are balanced correctly, they are balanced period.
