Duralast Cmax wear tab mania!! 6 tabs? Really???
So along with the limited instructions that I always love anyway......(especially when a pad mfgr decides to throw in a ton of hardware & other crap)........I also noticed something today while putting new pads on my '98 F150 Scab.
2 of the pads have a wear tab on top *AND* bottom.
2 of the pads have a wear tab on just on end. (symmetrically all the same pad minus the tab differences)
I've only ever noticed a couple cars in my life where the old-school tall tabs could ONLY fit on the inside & typically low-side, but not always.
I think any of the 4 pads could have gone anywhere as the tabs wouldn't interfere in any of the 4 possible places, but I put the one with 2 tabs on the insides (caliper side) and the single-tab version on the outside.
Any input on where they might have intended they go?
(P.S. The gross puke-colored grease they give does not say where to put ANY of it nor where not to put it. I went w/ Permatex brake quiet on the pad backs and the clear brake grease on all the typical contact places & caliper slide bolts)
