295/70/18 trail grapplers

Ok, ive been pm-ing people but i dont want to bother them anymore so im just gonna throw this out there. I just ordered some 18x9 chrome monsters with +18 offset. I really like the look of the 295/70/18 but im concerned about the rubbing issue. I believe that i shoulld be able to fit the tires with very little or no rubbing based on the searches ive done so far. I currently have 32" tires on 20 inch rims. If i go with the 295's then i will be replacing 2" of metal with 2" or rubber. This shouldnt affect gas mileage too much since rubber is lighter than metal correct? Also is it a legetimate expectation to get 50k miles out of these tires. Thanks a million fellas!

They will be a tight fit but I think they will work. If you are buying the tires from a local shop you can probably get them to mount up one and test fit it. Especially if you agree to buy the next size down if they don't fit.

They'll fit, but if your worried about gas mileage, I would not get them. I kinda thought the same thing cuz my truck had 22's on it, im not really sure what kind of mileage I'm getting now i just know its not good

maybe the 295/65/18 goodyear duratracs....any thoughts? Id like to go with something more aggressive but gas mileage does matter to me. I drive to and from college weekly. the goodyears are a 33" tire. Any thoughts about how those would look/fit?

You know what...Im going to take wandells advice. Im going to test fit the 295 trails and if i dont like them then ill buy the smaller size. I like the tire and dammit thats what im getting!

Just an FYI i lost about 1.5 - 2 MPG with the 295/70/18's. If you can afford it, look into a programmer. Gears are the ultimate fix for going up in tire size but cost more.

I've been wanting an edge for a while. This may be the perfect excuse to get one.

If you want an Edge, may want to consider PHP's version so you can get custom tunes either now or down the road.

295/70/18s will rub without a level kit. No doubt about it. And while you say you are replacing 2" of metal with 2 inches of rubber is technically true you are still adding about 2.5" of rubber from a 32" tire to a 34.6" tire.

FYI: I purchased a new set of 295/70/18 Trail Grapplers today for my my stock '05 FX4 Supercrew. The shop said it wouldn't work but I asked them to try and if it didn't fit, I would buy the next size down. No rubbing at all. Now I just need to get my Bilstein 5100's to bring the front up to complete the task.
