Trail Grapplers vs. Terra Grapplers

Yes I know the difference between the two

But my question is what would y'all do? I am in the market for new tires. I have narrowed it down to these tires do to price and looks. My Local shop had the best prices installed I found. Even better than online.

Trail Grapplers-

285/65/18- $1185.56
295/70/18- $1198

Terra Grapplers

285/65/18- $1070
295/70/18- $1070

So I do 90% driving on road and when I do, go off road it isn't too bad of stuff. The terra grapplers he said, & I've heard from other people can get 60k on mileage. But I would think just about even tire if you baby them you can do that. I have lifetime alignments at a local shop. So I would keep them aligned and also rotate them every oil change ~5,000 miles

I Don't NEED an M/T but for roughly $128 more I think I could justify a M/T for looks. I mean I have a aggressive A/T now with the Xtreme A/Ts. But the terra grapplers are sorta plain looking IMO

What would you do?

I would go with the trail grapplers. They are a mud tire but they aren't too loud. Those are some great prices.

plus if you ever get into a situation that's a little stickier than you thought, the trail grapps hands down will pull you through it more than the terras will

For $128 extra, I would definately go with The Trail Grapplers...I just put 295/70/18 Trail Grapplers on my 06 fx4 and I wish I would have done it a long time ago!

Yeah I thought the prices were great, we are near Parris Island and that's where all the local Marines & Families go. They go through a ton of tires and are always busy. With a small crew. So they charge low prices. The best part is the prices are all installation installed

That's because you have 17s. The price difference between 18s & 17s is huge!

That's true, I guess I didn't think of it that way.

Good to hear!

Anybody have any mileage reports on the Trail Grapplers yet?

I have over 20k on them and they are below half tread. The wearing seems to have slowed though. Also I have a heavy foot and a "spirited" driver, so I do not get great miles out of most of the tires I own. I can say they still ride great, noise increased a little, no shakes or other issues. I am curious to see just how long they last me, I will either get another set or BFG KM2's.

I vote for trail grapplers over terra grapplers - cant go wrong either way though.

I've had both and I've never checked but the Trails seem to be quite a bit heavier and don't seem to be get quite the mile out of them as the Terras. I don't regret buying the Trails what so ever but I would have to agree with MD my next set will probably be BFG mts. And I don't either will get you 60,000, 40 to 50 maybe.

If I could afford the KM2s that's what I would get, IMO they are the best looking M/T on the market by far

They are pricey but they will be my next. I have ran them on my trail Jeep for ever and love them.

I've heard nothing but good things about them too. Just a good $500 more than the TGs

I'll be lucky to get 40K out of my trail grapps. So consider if the price difference is worth it.
