Good BFG Tire Size

I'm looking to get BFG AT/KO to put on my 97XLT, not 4x4. It's got 16 inch rims, what is a good size tire to put on that will still ride comfortably and not rub? I've currently got 255/70/16 on my truck that are needing to be replaced and was thinking about going a tad bigger. Thanks!

IMO if we are talkin about 4x4's go with about a 265/75/16 inch tire or a 275/70/16 both measure out to be 31, it's going to be taller than what you are running now by about 1 inch, which means no rubbing. I personally went from 255's to 285's and had to trim about an inch of plastic from the inner fender (not a big deal, not noticeable at all). The handling did suffer a little as it is a taller tire but what hurt me is the performance. On the interstate now my truck likes to shift in and out of OD. All in all go with what you would like the most. If you really like the looks of some big meats or do quite a bit of off-roading go as big as you can otherwise keep it more streetable.

You could go a tad bigger with 265/75R16, thats about 31.7". If you have 3.55 gears, that would give you the same ratio and tire diameter of the "off road package". Going any larger in tire diameter and the engine is working very low in the power band. Your power, hauling, towing capabilities, gas milage will suffer. You could gain alittle back with exhaust, air, and chip mods. The best way to handle larger tires is with gearing, 3.73, 4.10, that way you can look good and still have a functional truck.
