Cooper AT3 v. Nitto, Toyo, or General

I was trying to find out if there is anyone who has experience with the Cooper and one of the other 3 tires. I have searched the forum and see good reviews about the Cooper but am curious how it compares. I have found a good deal on the tire and am considering pick up a new set.

Also, the tire guys said that on a stock 09 2WD Supercrew that the biggest tire I could fit would be a 265/70 - 17. Is that correct? I thought a 275 or 285 would fit easily.

i have had the general grabber at2 and loved them, not only did they wear like iron the price was right for them. The coopers I had were nothing but a headache for me, they wore really fast and twice I had to have a tire replaced on them to early wear issues covered by tirerack

I have the Zeon s and they are doing great . They have a good look and are smooth and quiet , . I had the Terra Grapplers on last truck and they were great too . Not much help am I. The reason I went with Zeons was price at the time. Little over 700 dollars for 33" tireon 20"wheel was not happening with anybody else. The Zeon 275 is the widest 275 tire I have seen was the other reason

Thanks for the info guys! I like the look of both tires but the Cooper's are cheaper than the Generals and they have a 55k mile warranty. I will be pulling the trigger this week or next on the Coopers.

The only other decision is whether I level the truck prior to buying the tires. Will a 285 fit without leveling the truck? (2WD)

There was a guy that had 295/70/17 put on his 2wd before his level came in and said they didn't rub. I would get the 285/70/17 and see if they work. It shouldn't rub very bad if at all, and if u plan on leveling eventually, u should go with the 285s regardless.

Hey , dont know if your interested or not but Cooper has a real good looking tire called atp. They are cheaper than Zeon and at3. If interested check out Discount tires site and pull up coopers and pull up atp . Goog looking tread pattern and 55k warranty.

I saw the ATP's yesterday while I was browsing. Are those an older model? I looked on Cooper's website and can't find the ATP's only the AT3. I like the way they look though.

Right now I am trying to determine whether or not I am going to purchase the Rancho quickLIFT loaded system. Only problem is I am headed to Mammoth in a couple weeks so it all has to be done by then because my current tires won't work.

Not to hijack your thread but I am also looking at the same tires in 265x70x17. As of now i've decided on the Nitto Terra Grappler. $40 cheaper than the others. I also found these Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S Off-Road Tire, which are about $15 cheaper than the Nitto's. Have you looked at these? Any one have any thoughts, I haven't read a bad review of these tires.

On my last truck I had the Terra Grapplers and they were great tires . I did not have option on the Yokohamas. There was not a lot to pick from then ,I had 295/70/17. If you check Discount tire they are real close in price on coopers and nittos. Both good tires

Where have you been able o find the Nitto's cheaper than the others? Everywhere I have looked the Cooper A/T3 and ATP have been the cheapest. I haven't looked into the Yokohama's.

I decided that I am going to add the Rancho QuickLIFT Loaded's before I purchase tires. So as soon as I get those installed I will pull the trigger on some tires.

Amazon has the Nitto's for 160 and General for 176, but they don't ship to PA. Discountire has the Generals for 164 (backordered) and the Nittos for 176 (Free shipping on both). Just found tirebuyer and the Nittos are 157 compared to the Generals for 168 (free shipping). Looks like i'll be going with the Nitto. From everything i read these tires are perform very well in all weather and conditions and they both should last me awhile.

From what i could tell for my 4x4 i just compared the stock size tires to the size I want to move to. I used http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to see the difference in the sizes. With the 4x4 they come with 255/70-17, 275/65-18 or 275/65-20. So when i move to 265/70-17 it's very similar in size to the 20" wheel. The 18 is actually the biggest when all is stock.
