How will these rims look on my truck?

I want to get the fuel hostages 17 inch but the guy at discount tire says offset is +1 and they will stick out? How much are we talking like two inches sticking out each tire? I don't really mind that but will that look bad? Truck is a 97 f150 4x4 with no lift and it has 285/70/17 tires on it right now. Pics of my truck in this thread- https://www.f150online.com/forums/19...-f150-4x4.html
Thanks guys.

I can use this calculator http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp but I can't find the stock offset for 97 f150 17x7.5 rims. Anyone know?

i like the look on our trucks. i think some other options look better but they're $$$

i think the tire guy is confused when it comes to what "sticks out" in terms of aftermarket. i guess everything is relative but +1mm/5"backspace won't stick out on a 9" rim. I went for the -12/4.5 backspace to get them out a little more.

here's some pics of the exact setup you're talking about but -12mm/4.5". compare the rears on the 2nd and 3rd pic...it all depends on the angle as to whether you think it sticks out at all or a little.

Stock offsets are usually a high offset like a +30. Maybe the older body style has a different offset, but for the newer trucks a 20x9 o offset is near flush with the fender. By the time you have the tire buldginf over the rim it'll stick out some. A -12 usually sticks out around an inch.
Are you going to run a chrome or black wheel? It's hard to notice in a black wheel, but in a chrome wheel the Fuel Hostage in a 17" will look very conjested. You may want to look into a wheel w/o so many bars. Just my opinion though.

Whats the other options you think look better for more money?

I'll be running a black wheel. The options are limited for 5x135 in the style I want. I really liked the hostages and I looked at the other fuel rims and didn't find anything in 5x135. The places Ive shopped around have mostly ion alloy wheels and I don't care for any of them. Im pretty picky lol.

The white and black go perfect together on your truck. Are those 18 inch wheels on yours?

no, exactly what you're getting but -12. i wanted to go 18's but couldn't justify the costs for 1/2" in sidewall difference. i'm not sure it would have been worth the extra $5-600

well those look damn good and I was the same way. I already have BFG ATs for 17 inch wheels with good tread so I didn't want to have to buy new tires too just to go up to eighteen inch.
