Need a opinion

Im looking into some 33/12.50/18 BFG Km2's with about 85% tread left on them. They guy who is selling them wants $800 and I know brand new ones this size are about $375 each.... I need some opinions if I should go through with this. (not a big fan of buying used tires)

Buying used tires is sketchy though...ask if hed be willing to meet at a place to get them mounted so you can make sure they arent bad

The thing is the guy is about 600 miles away and offered to pay for shipping... Sketchy right? I would just drive down there but we got blizzard conditions rolling in and I don't want to get trapped on the interstate bum tuck nowhere.

ive bought 3 sets of used tires, aint nothing wrong with it. the bfg's im running now i bought used with only 5K miles on them. i paid the guy 800 and he even mounted and balanced them for me. (he worked at a tire shop).

but there is NO WAY i would drive 600 miles to get truck parts! thats like 16 hours of driving there and back. which is about $280 in gas!

First and most important question, why is the fellow getting rid of them? They may look great and have plenty of tread, but if them babies won't balance your toast. If you have the patiance just buy one new tire a month, then in four months you'll have a new set and be much cheaper than all at one time, JMO

I'd see if someone here that may be local to him check them out and let you know. At least it's another set of eyes other than the seller that could verify they are worth it.
