Can't figure out ABS light
Hi all, for some unknown reason, my ABS light decided to come on at 64k miles. My pads and rotors were all replaced less than 10k miles ago and there is no visible reason or different feeling while driving the truck. It is a 4x4 screw. I have searched these boards without much luck, but googled and came up that it may be caused by a faulty wheel speed sensor. Anyone ever have to deal with something similar?? Thanks!
**forgot to mention that I used a code reader and nothing came up

Can't say, other than maybe try and get your hands on a OBD2 reader with ABS codes. My truck was easy, I tested each sensor because I had resistance values in the shop manual. I don't think yours would be the same. If it's on constantly, I'll bet it's a sensor, sporadic I'd say cracked pulse ring. Sorry not much help here.

You're sure the scanner you used does abs codes? My first one didn't, and I ended up buying an abs specific one when I had my abs fault.

Check the ABS sensor on the diff. You can take it out and clean it, sometimes that works. This is the rear sensor, it's for both wheels. The front wheels have their own sensor for each side. Check the wires for chaffing and make sure the magnets are clean on the sensors themselves.
If that corrects the problem then the light should turn off by it's self (I think). If not then you will have to get the code to see what the problem is.

As mentioned above, visually expect the sensors for the obvious problems.
My ABS light came on the other week, but I didn't worry about it b/c the brakes felt fine.
I finally got under the truck and discovered that the wire to the sensor was completely severed after rubbing against the wheel for a while.
It's easy to replace... just like changing your front brakes, except you have to remove the brake dust shield and use an allen wrench to unbolt the sensor.
