Im looking to get some new rims, 18's to be in fact. Putting them on my 2000 f150 XLT. I got 275-70 tires for them. I want them to stick out a fair bit (like an inch or so from the fender maybe less). What offset/backspacing should i look for? And I refuse to use spacers...

Around 4.5" of backspacing or so would make them stick out, but it also depends on how wide the wheels are your planning on getting too.

4 1/2" backspacing on a 8" wheel will no where near give you what you're looking for. 4 1/2 on a 9" would only be a little better. There was a thread here recently with a black F150 and Goodyear Duratrac's that had 10" wheels with 4 1/4 backspacing...that's what I have and it's perfect.

This body style truck will handle a 10" wheel just fine and that's what you need to shop for. Problem is, wheel options for our trucks is EXTREMELY limted these days.

The wheels on the 97-03's tuck in pretty far. A 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of BS will put a 12.50 inch wide tire just about even with the fend flares up front. Look at the pics of my old Screw in my gallary if you want to judge for yourself.

Here's my truck and the other truck I mentioned. Both of these trucks are 305/70 16's on 16x10 wheels with 4.25" backspacing.
