Another rim and tire question-22's

I recently acquired a set of Boss Motorsports Style 315 22x9.5 wheels with a 40 offset. They need new tires and i'm baffled on which size to go with. 2006 f150 screw fx4 with a 3" level. i'm looking at 305/45/22 or 285/55/22 tires. i live off road and am needing an aggressive tire. suggestions please?

Both should fit fine. What aggressive tires are available in those sizes? I assume you are wanting an AT or MT.

the terra grapps come in the 285/50. and i've found a real good price on the hankook dynapro in the 305/45 or terras in that size too. the trail grapps come in a 285/55 do you think there would be any clearance issues with that tall of a tire.

i was concerned with that too but the 285/55 is a 34.8 inch tall... plus i'm in the woods at least 4 nights a week and i don't wanna run into any major scrubbing issues if it gets to flexing much

The 305/45-22 is essentially a 33x12.50 tire. They should fit easily. The 285/55-22 is basically a 35x11.50 tire. I think they will look better but it will be tight but will probably fit due to their narrower 285mm width. I'd try to test fit one.

The tires in my sig pic are 305/40/22. That should give you a reference for sidewall.

thanks wandell, i'm really leaning towards the 285/55 i think they'll go in there with that 40 offset. based on everything i've read that seems like they're gonna sit way in. Milt, the wheels actually have a set of 305/40's on them they just need replacing. anybody else have any advice on tires with that offset?

Pulled the trigger on the terra grapplers in a 285/55/22 and glad i did. They just clear the uca but look great, i doubt the trail grapps would've made it with that sidewall. No rubbing issues other than a slight rub at full lock in reverse on the uca. I'll post pics as soon as the weather permits a good washing. Thanks guys for all the help!
